How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Ω episode 7 is the nice little side story before the main quest begins again. It almost has the feeling that it’s only purpose is to have us not forget some of the characters from the first season of the anime. Considering that, episode 7 wasn’t all that bad.
What do you think about what went on in episode 7?
For what it was, How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Ω episode 7 did what it set out to do. At least that’s what I could guess from watching it. A bunch of characters were brought back for this episode. From Klem and Edelgard to Emile Bichelberger and Galford, everyone seems to make an appearance. That’s nice, I suppose.
I couldn’t help but have that feeling that I was supposed to remember all of the important things that happened back in season 1. Unfortunately, I’ve watched so much anime since that time that I have a vague understanding of what went on. This isn’t one of those anime that I sit down and go back through the entire history prior to the new season coming out. It’s just not that important.
Unfortunately, How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Ω episode 7 decided to go heavy on the fanservice. I’m sure there are plenty of repressed young men who are yelling at Diablo for what he did in the beginning of the episode. Just like in all my other reviews, I’ll pass on the excessive fanservice. It’s unnecessary and detracts from what’s going on.
What did How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Ω episode 7 get right?
Despite having the feeling of a filler episode, I actually enjoyed watching Diablo work to stop Klem from killing people. He understands that if she were to start killing people on a whim she couldn’t stay in the city. This would just complicate Diablo’s life even more.
Of course this is easier said than done. Diablo, Klem, Edelgard and Rose are all far superior to anyone that the Measmos crime family. Thankfully everything worked out even though Klem was proclaiming herself to be a Demon Lord the entire time.
I think the ending of the episode was another part that How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Ω episode 7 got right. Despite having a fallen and a Demon Lord as part of their company, Diablo’s group managed to save the town from organized crime. They’re acting more like heroes than villains. I’m glad to see Faltra come out and support them.
What did episode 7 get wrong?
I’m starting to feel like a broken record. How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Ω episode 7 continues the trend of excessive fanservice. To me, it distracts from what’s going on in the anime. If this anime could tone things down just to a moderate level I think it’d be so much better. I think that’s actually one of the reasons why I enjoyed watching episode 6 more than the others.
Is How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Ω episode 7 worth watching?
You can take it or leave it at this point. I’m seriously considering stopping my reviews of this anime. I want to keep watching what happens because I do get a kick out of Diablo and his harem. On the other hand, I’m really annoyed with the unnecessary parts.
How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Ω episode 8 Preview
It’s a little ironic that I have this section right after I mention that I’m considering stopping my reviews of the anime. From what I can tell from the preview of episode 8, things will be all over the place. Lumachina has to face the head Cardinal who’s prepared for her return. Diablo is going to get involved.
There’s also flashes that Diablo will fantasize about marrying Rem, Horn and Shera. My guess is that it won’t take long for Diablo to take care of things. Once the serious work is done, we’ll head back toward the silliness. Only time will tell.
Now go watch some anime!
