This episode went pretty much exactly how I expected it to.
My Hero Academia episode 93 picks up the training exercise with the second groups from Class 1-A and 1-B starting their fight. There’s plenty of personal rivalries between the two groups. The one that’s pretty obvious from the start is Yaoyorozu and Kendo. They did spend some time together at an internship after all.
The other rivalry that’s now being kindled is Tokoyami and Kuroiro. That’s really the focal point of episode 93 and it allows us to get a good look at Tokoyami’s new technique. I have to say that I’m a little underwhelmed after seeing it. At least the fighting between the two groups is pretty entertaining.
Kendo and Yaoyorozu are some of the more intelligent members of their classes. The fight between the two is more a battle of strategies than anything else. It’s one of those anime moments where we’re supposed to be watching two smart, promising geniuses go head to head. It doesn’t quite have the feel of some of the best head-to-head match-ups that are well known, but it’s not a bad start.
I like the dynamic between the two classes. Class 1-B obviously has a chip on their shoulder and is trying to do all it can to beat their classmates. They’re not bad in their own right but they just can’t seem to get over the hump. It makes for some fights that are more than just a flurry of action. There’s some healthy competition going on here and it comes through the screen.
The surprising thing to me right now is that we’re spending so much time on this training exercise. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an entertaining fight to watch. It just feels like My Hero Academia would be focused on more of the story rather than the U.A. High School first years fighting each other.
It was nice to see a little bit of Tokoyami’s time with Hawks, both in his internship and in the work study. It looks like Hawks’ interest in the League of Villains goes back to Season 2. We know that Hawks has been tasked with going undercover and infiltrating the League of Villains so his time with Tokoyami had it’s motivations.
Is My Hero Academia Episode 93 Worth Watching?
Yes. My Hero Academia episode 93 is worth watching. I know that the focus of MHA season 5 is on building up some of the other characters. Tokoyami was the one who got the spotlight here. His time with Hawks was interesting. His new technique is effective but a little underwhelming. It’s just basically Dark Shadow under a cloak.
At this point I really just want to get to the point where Deku takes on Shinso’s team in the final battle. I want to see that rematch. Shinso’s obviously worked hard to improve and should be a formidable opponent. He’s already proved that. Will Deku’s squad be able to create a good strategy? We’ll have to see.
My Hero Academia Episode 94 Preview
From the preview for episode 94 it looks like we’ll get to see the finale to the fight between the second group of combatants. It also appears that Yaoyorozu is going to be the focus of this episode. Kendo’s strategy appears to be pushing the Class 1-A team to the limit. Can Yaoyorozu come up with a strategy that can turn the tide? We’ll just have to wait until next week to find out. That’s the whole point of a cliffhanger after all.
Now go watch some anime!
