How Not to Summon A Demon Lord Ω Episode 4 Review

How Not to Summon A Demon Lord Ω Episode 4 Review

It’s no wonder Diablo was a shut in gamer in the real world. Diablo does his best here in episode 4 to make sure that no female character will ever want to be around him again. How Not to Summon A Demon Lord Ω makes sure that this is one of the two things we can count on in every episode so far. Fanservice is the other if you were wondering.

How was the plot in How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Ω Episode 4?

Episode 4 is as straightforward as they come. I guess I should say it’s as straightforward as you’d expect it to be. Diablo and his harem make it to the dungeon after escaping from Laminitus. The dungeon is the one Diablo created so he knows how to advance. Diablo is socially awkward while trying to reassure his scared female companions.

The paladin who was after Lumachina in episode 1 reappears. He sets a trap on one of the floors of the dungeon and causes a commotion. We end the episode with Diablo diving into a rushing river to save Horn. Toss in some fanservice and humor and you’ve got yourself a Demon Lord episode.

Were there any moments that stood out?

The only moment that really caught my attention was the face off between Diablo and Laminitus. Laminitus is on par with Diablo in terms of power so her pursuit of a wounded Diablo could be intriguing. She decided to pull back her forces even though she had an advantageous shot of Diablo. I’m sure there will be more to come between the two of them.

How Not to Summon A Demon Lord Ω - Diablo jumping in to save Horn

The ending of the episode was a fairly standard affair. I know I’m supposed to feel some kind of suspense but that gets killed off with the preview for episode 5. How can I wonder what happens when there’s footage showing me all of the characters that were in jeopardy?

Who would this anime appeal to?

It’s key demographic. Young, horny boys between the ages of 13-18 who are afraid of their parents going through their browser history. That’s who this anime will appeal to the most. I guess you could expand from there and say that it would also appeal to 18-34 single males as well. Really just take your pick.

I would not be watching this anime if I wasn’t trying to add some reviews to the site. It’s a currently airing season that has an audience. It’s not my cup of tea and I’m not going to pretend to be engrossed in what’s going on. The only thing here that really stands out is the level of the fanservice. I don’t watch anime for fanservice so it’s just wasted time to me.

Is How Not to Summon A Demon Lord Ω Episode 4 Worth Watching?

I always hesitate recommending How Not to Summon A Demon Lord Ω because of the overt fanservice. I don’t want to put my stamp of approval on something that is low brow entertainment. There are some interesting things here. I’m curious to see how things end up between Diablo and Laminitus as I mentioned before.

There always feels like there’s something being done to hold me back though. I’d like to saw that this is an above average anime that’s worth giving a shot, but I can’t. You should feel free to give How Not to Summon A Demon Lord Ω episode 4 a shot but you didn’t get the recommendation from me.

How Not to Summon A Demon Lord Ω Episode 5 Preview

How Not to Summon A Demon Lord Ω - Diablo and a new female character

The preview for episode 5 shows us that there’s going to be a battle between a black dragon and what I assume is the ultimate summon for the paladin from earlier. A new female character is also revealed. Diablo and Shera are shown to be in a treasure room so I assume everything ends up for the best. It should be an episode with a good bit of action so that’ll be fun.

Now go watch some anime!
