This was a good way to wrap up the first season of Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun.
If you read my previous two reviews of this anime, you’ll know that I wasn’t that high on what was going on. The little side-story about Keroli being a dem-dol just wasn’t a highlight for me. There were a few things that were off logically and I just didn’t find the material all that entertaining.
That’s not the case here with the final episode of the first season of the anime. Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun season 1 finishes off with an episode that fits the overall atmosphere of the show. We also get a little bit of a hint at what’s going to come in the next season. It’s perfect for what it is.
Throughout the entire anime, Iruma is shown to get more and more comfortable with his life in the netherworld. That comes to the forefront here when Iruma finally realizes that he’s blended in completely. Now he has to come to terms with what that means. Why is it that a human can be comfortable surrounded by demons in the netherworld?
True to form, Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun has Asmodeus and Clara compete to cheer up Iruma. It’s like the anime is answering Iruma’s question before he can get too deep into it. Iruma feels comfortable in the netherworld because he has friends and family who actually care about him. He’s in an environment that values him rather than uses him.
Once Iruma sees this, he’s content with his life. It also brings a form of contentment as we watch a recap of all of the major events of the prior 22 episodes. Even listening to a song about crushing and devouring demons can’t bring the mood down. It actually helps lift your spirits up due to it’s upbeat tempo.
Episode 23 builds up this contentment only to throw a curve at you. At the end, leading us on to season 2, Iruma is revealed to have changed. It’s like he turned into a demon overnight. The cause of this is left to our imagination as the narrator says that it’ll be a story to be told later.
I can’t think of a better way to wrap everything up and lead us into the next season. I left this episode perfectly content with what I saw and excited for what’s to come.
Is Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Episode 23 Worth Watching?
Yes. Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun episode 23 is worth watching. Like I just said, I finished watching this episode with a sense of calm and satisfaction. As strange as it may be that a human can assimilate into demon culture without issue, Iruma Suzuki has managed to do it. It’s nice to see him in a situation where he’s loved and cared for.
Now we’ll just need to see what’s affecting Iruma. Maybe there’s some kind of sickness in the netherworld that turns humans into demons. Maybe Kiriwo’s negative influence finally got to Iruma. I guess we’ll just have to find out by watching the second season!
Now go watch some anime!
