That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Episode 36 Review

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Episode 36 - The reincarnated Storm Dragon Veldora Tempest

I can’t help but feel a little disappointed right now.

In my reviews of the second season of this anime, I’ve at times mentioned that we’ve been waiting and waiting for Rimuru to get his revenge. At least I’ve been anticipating Rimuru finally getting his revenge. It was a painfully slow process for Rimuru to finally get back at those who attacked his kingdom directly and now it looks like the wait is going to be even longer for him to get back at Demon Lord Clayman.

With That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Episode 36 ending the first part of the second season of the anime we’re assured that there’s not going to be a resolution to this fight within the next couple of weeks. Instead we’re going to have to wait until July when Part 2 comes out to get a resolution. That’s a lot of waiting overall just to see some action.

That’s probably my biggest complaint about That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime right now. I keep thinking “Ok, when is something going to happen?” Even after Rimuru returns to Tempest and discovers that his home has been destroyed it takes forever until he actually does anything to avenge his subordinates. It’s like someone needs to get behind this anime and give it a good, stiff push.

The aftermath of Demon Lord Milim’s attack

I did enjoy this season of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. It just feels like this anime just missed the mark on creating something that could be really special. If I were to point to one specific thing that bothered me after looking back it’s in how everyone relates to Rimuru.

As much fun as it is to see Rimuru interact with his friends and subordinates, he ultimately comes across as someone who’s surrounded by a bunch of sycophants. They’re constantly falling over themselves to praise Rimuru at every step. Even after Tempest suffers due to his naivety and idealistic pursuits, Rimuru is praised by his top officials. It’s just a little too much.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime episode 36 had both the good and bad that’s been present in this whole season so far. Demon Lord Carrion’s fight with Demon Lord Milim was the good. I will be curious to see how Milim stacks up against a reincarnated Storm Dragon Veldora or Demon Lord Rimuru.

The retelling of events between Demon Lord Milim and the nation of Eurazania was a high point actually. I was compelled to watch as Demon Lord Carrion’s subordinates sorrowfully recounted the details of how their home was destroyed. That’s an easy story to follow and an easy story to move your emotions.

What I would consider the bad was how Diablo behaved in his interaction with Rimuru. He’s basically just another lackey now. You’d think that being the highest level demon would mean that Diablo would have a mean streak in there somewhere. I guess not when it concerns the one who summoned him. Had it not been for all of the other character’s overbearing devotion to Rimuru then it would’ve been fine. I was just over it by this point.

Is That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Episode 36 Worth Watching?

Yes. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime episode 36 is worth watching. Even though I complained a little bit about this anime I still think it’s worth watching as a whole. I just think this one has some things that keep it from being truly great. I enjoyed watching this season and I’m hopeful the second part will be better.

Now go watch some anime!
