After watching That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Episode 44, I felt like I had just been teased for 20+ minutes. All of the really interesting fights never materialized. Benimaru vs Father Middray? Nope. Father Middray vs Charybdis? Not that one either. I guess Benimaru vs Charybdis does count, but I’m still left unfulfilled. Enough with the carrot on a stick stuff! I just want to see some awesome action!
Where can I watch That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Episode 44?
You can watch the latest episodes of everyone’s favorite slime over at Crunchyroll. Every Tuesday a new anime episode comes out. Thankfully for me, it’s released right before I take my lunch so I can watch it while eating. Otherwise I’d have to wait until the next day to see what happens. I have a hard time being that patient.
Since Slime episode 44 can be found at Crunchyroll, it can also be found over at VRV. They get some of their content via Crunchyroll and Rimuru’s anime is one of them. Personally, I’ll just go to the source but give VRV a look. They might have something there that you like. Far be it from me to discourage you from making up your own mind.
How was the story in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Episode 44?
Episode 44 picks up where episode 43 left off. No kidding! That’s the way things work? What I mean is that we don’t skip over to Rimuru’s trip to Walpurgis. The story of episode 44 sticks with the battle between Clayman’s army and Rimuru’s. For the most part, the battle is all in Rimuru’s favor. The only one’s left to challenge Rimuru’s lieutenants are the strongest fighters on Clayman and Milim’s side.
Of those fighters, the only ones on the side of Clayman and Milim that show any promise are Father Middray, Footman and Tear. Everyone else is just there to get beaten down. That includes Yamza, one of Clayman’s top subordinates.
I’m actually surprised at this. I thought that Rimuru’s forces would bulldoze all of their opponents. That’s what’s typically happens in anime like this. We get treated to an epic beatdown. I guess that’s being saved for later, when Rimuru tries out some of his new Demon Lord abilities. The only thing that really thing that comes close to what I was expecting was Benimaru.
What did Benimaru do?
When it became clear that Yamza wasn’t going to defeat Albis, Clayman forced his lieutenant to eat some sort of evil looking ball. It transformed him into an infant Charybdis. You’ll remember Charybdis as the dragon that attacked Tempest back in season 1. It’s the one that Milim took down for her new best friend, Rimuru.
The one here in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime episode 44 is not as strong as the one from season 1, but it’s still a big threat. We’re given the impression that it’s going to take everyone to bring down this flying calamity. Benimaru decides to rain on that parade, though, and take care of things himself. It’s an interesting play as now I’m wondering just how strong Rimuru is.
What’s one of the most common questions in the anime universe? It’s “Who’s the strongest anime character?” You don’t have to go far to find an opinion on that one and I won’t be getting into that here. I just want you to keep the general idea in your head because I’m going to use some of the logic.
If Charybdis was a big threat that needed Milim’s help to defeat back in season 1, what does that mean about Benimaru’s power here in episode 44? Is he on equal footing with the Demon Lord herself? If that’s the case, Rimuru is even more powerful than his subordinate. Is Rimuru now the most powerful Demon Lord in the anime? Guy Crimson and Leon Cromwell already indicated that Milim is one of the strongest Demon Lords. If Benimaru is near her level, how could Rimuru not be on a completely different level?
Why are you bringing this up?
It’s things like this that keep me thinking about anime. We don’t have an answer to the question yet, so I can’t help but continue to throw out wild theories. It’s fun to do because I really don’t care about the answer, but I know there are a lot of people that do. I just like to sit back and eat some popcorn while the fight rages.
We’ll most likely not have to wait too much longer before we get an answer on Rimuru’s power in comparison to the other Demon Lords. I think it’s safe to say that Rimuru’s at least stronger than Clayman. Clayman hasn’t evolved into a True Demon Lord just yet. That’s what the whole plan with Eurazania was for after all. I’ll be looking forward to seeing just what Rimuru is capable of in comparison to other strong characters.
What did That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime episode 44 get right?
Like I said in my review of episode 43, I’m a huge fan of Geld. He’s a tank. That orc can take so much damage and keep going that it’s impressive. I respect that and can connect with it. I always liked playing tanks whenever I was playing an RPG. It was a badge of honor to absorb so much damage that it was mind-boggling. Geld does that well and he’s secretly my favorite character in the whole anime.
Another obvious high point was Benimaru’s arrival on the battlefield. It had the feel that I believe most of you are familiar with. You know what I’m talking about. Whenever an incredibly strong character shows up and changes the flow of the fight, I get goosebumps. With Benimaru doing that here, I wouldn’t be surprised if he shot up in popularity. Too bad we didn’t get to see him fight against Father Middray.
Speaking of Father Middray, I was impressed with the respect and restraint he showed while fighting Suphia and Gabiru. Middray could’ve easily taken out the pair of them. That much was obvious. Middray stated that his strength was on par with Milim’s, so it makes me even more frustrated that we didn’t see him fight against Benimaru. Then I would’ve been able to test out my theory on who’s stronger.
The fact that Middray didn’t just slaughter Suphia and Gabiru means that there’s hope for the Dragon Faithful to join with the good side and gang up on Clayman. If Milim can break free from Clayman’s curse, I’m sure Father Middray will have a field day with the Demon Lord. Clayman doesn’t strike me as the hand-to-hand combat type. He probably won’t get the chance though. Someone else will get to Clayman long before he gets there.
What did That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime episode 44 get wrong?
While I am frustrated that we didn’t get to see Benimaru and Father Middray fight, I wouldn’t put that in this section. It’s more of a lost opportunity than anything. I didn’t really find anything to complain about in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime episode 44. It did a pretty good job of keeping the story going while also providing some interesting action. There’s no point digging for little inconsistencies just to bring them up in a review. I’d rather stick to the bigger, more obvious problems.
Is That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime episode 44 worth watching?
Yes, it is. I had fun watching That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime episode 44. This is the type of anime episode that gets me excited for the day that it airs. There’s action, intrigue, dramatic arrivals, clear characters that you want to see get defeated and so much more. Now if I could just get to see the Demon Lords at Walpurgis I’ll be happy. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it’ll come in the next episode.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime episode 45 preview
You should know what the deal is by this point. Some anime like to patch together a couple of scenes and put them as a preview after the credits. Slime doesn’t do that. We just get a screen that gives us the title of the next episode and lets our imaginations run wild. The title of episode 45 is “Alderman, the Index Finger.” He’s the one that Yamza was going to get from Clayman’s castle to bring to the battlefield.
There’s something going on with Alderman because back when Yamza came up with his plan it appeared that he couldn’t leave Clayman’s castle. My guess is that he’s specifically used for defense and it pretty powerful. If that’s the case, it’ll be interesting to see how Shion and the others do in their offensive. If she’s as strong as Benimaru I’m going to guess that this fight won’t last long. We’ll have to wait and see. There’s nothing else to give us a hint (no I’m not going to search out the light novel story and find out what happens)!
Now go watch some anime!
