Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Episode 5 Review

Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Episode 5 Review

Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun episode 5 finally answered one of my biggest questions about the second season of this anime. Now we finally know how Iruma’s personality changed! It only took five episodes to get here but we’re finally here. It does seem to stretch the timeline a bit but that’s just fine. At least Iruma’s personality change hasn’t been forgotten.

Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Episode 4 Review

I’ll take this moment to say that one of my predictions from episode 4’s review was pretty much on point. In the preview for this episode, we were shown a shot of an angry Sullivan. I said that he was either angry that something happened to disrupt the party, or he was playing the part in a game. I’d argue that he was playing the part in a game. He just wanted Iruma and friends to think of him as an awesome grandfather and chair-demon.

How did you like the story in episode 5?

Even for Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun, episode 5 was very happy-go-lucky and upbeat. It’s basically one big party for Iruma. Everyone there absolutely adores him so there’s nothing to ruin the mood. The only point of contention is Sullivan trying to figure out a way to impress Iruma, Asmodeus and Clara.

I didn’t mind this story that much because it is a one-off. Considering the ending of the episode, this is the calm before the storm. We’re led to believe that everything is going perfectly for Iruma and Sullivan until that very last moment. Had things not taken a turn at the very end then I would probably not be so gracious.

What do you think Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun episode 5 got right?

I think the twist at the end of the episode was done really well. You could tell the moment Ali started doing what he did that Iruma’s perfect life was about to change. Ali is mischievous, I wonder how that’s going to end up playing out here.

I did enjoy watching Iruma and friends enjoy themselves at the after-party. As I mentioned before, Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun episode 5 is mainly a feel good episode. I assume the whole purpose of the party was to make us, the audience, happy while we watch Iruma spend time with those closest to him. Personally I just enjoy watching all of them interact together.

What did episode 5 get wrong?

I know I already said that I’m glad that episode 5 dealt with the missing element of the story from season 1, but it still feels a little disjointed. At the end of season 1 there wasn’t the slightest hint at everything that happened between the start of season 2 episode 1 and the end of episode 5. If I try to work out the timeline in my head it just doesn’t make sense.

I think some people might find Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun episode 5’s entire presentation to be not to their liking. Most of the episode is on the carefree side after all. I already mentioned that I liked it, but if the twist at the end didn’t happen then I would be more critical. I could see how episode 5 would turn some people off even with that ending. It would be easy to think “Why am I watching this?” for a good part of the episode.

Is Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun episode 5 worth watching?

If you like watching this anime then episode 5 is necessary for you to watch. If you want a good representation for what Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun is then you’d be better served to watch a different episode first. Episode 5 only works if you’ve been following along with the story. I think if you’re a fan of this anime you’ll be fine with this episode.

Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Episode 6 Preview

The preview for episode 6 shows us that things are about to get a lot more interesting. Iruma’s new personality is going to lead him into conflict with his teacher/summon, Kalego. Iruma is on a mission to get the misfit class a new classroom. Considering he has a lot of magic stored up in his gluttonous feeder ring, and that Kalego is his summon, Iruma might just succeed.
