At the end of the last episode, Clara invited Iruma and Asmodeus to come to her house so the trio could hide from the media. As expected, Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun season 2 episode 19 gives us exactly what a trip to Clara’s house would look like. Really, this was one big episode of Clara. If that thought scares you, be prepared.
Where can I watch Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun season 2 episode 19?
You can watch the new episodes of this anime over at Crunchyroll. Every Saturday a new episode airs. You can watch it after you get through watching the new My Hero Academia episode. At times, it can be a nice change of pace. In episode 19’s case, it was a very large change of pace.
Besides Crunchyroll, I haven’t been able to find any other legitimate streaming service that carries the latest episodes besides VRV. Considering that VRV gets the rights to stream Demon School from Crunchyroll, I don’t really see the point in going over there. It’s possible that you might only have access to VRV depending on where you live, but that’s just sheer speculation on my end. All I know is that they have it just like Crunchyroll.
How was the story in Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun season 2 episode 19?
The outlandish behavior of Clara’s family is a focal point of this anime episode. From the way in which they greet Iruma and Asmodeus to the way in which they collect food, everything is over-the-top and silly. Quite frankly, it was a little much for me. If I hadn’t expected this going into the episode then I probably would’ve turned it off and told you to skip it.
I did watch it and I’m glad I did. We got a chance to learn about the place that Clara lives and it turns out it’s unique even for the netherworld. The Hubbub Forest is a place that’s made for Clara and her family. It has everything that they need to survive, including a monster that contains all of the ingredients for a hot pot. I couldn’t picture Clara coming from any other place.
What did everyone do while at Clara’s house?
Most of the episode centers around normal family affairs, albeit with the twist that it’s Clara’s family. Clara’s mom embarrasses her by showing off Clara’s pictures. Clara’s brothers let slip that she’s constantly talking about Iruma and they think he’s her boyfriend. Then there’s the trip to the Hubbub Forest to collect food. It’s all pretty low-key and pleasant. That’s a big difference from what we just went through at Walter Park.
The most action that comes from Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun season 2 episode 19 is when Iruma, Asmodeus, Clara and her brothers go off to find Shabu Shabu. Shabu Shabu is the ultimate ingredient and both Clara and Asmodeus are intent on being the first to get it. The two friends of Iruma have reignited their cooking rivalry from back in season 1 episode 23. All this leads to a trip to a spooky cave to meet the Shabu Shabu monster. This monster is the one that I mentioned before that contains all of the ingredients for a hot pot.
Eventually everything turns out for the best and everyone gets to enjoy a delicious meal, but for a while it looked like Clara’s brothers were in real danger. Asmodeus is able to rescue them before helping everyone run away. The Shabu Shabu monster was too much for them, but not Clara’s mom.
What did Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun season 2 episode 19 get right?
At the end of the day, Clara sings a lullaby to both Iruma and Asmodeus to help them fall asleep. It’s a touching moment that I found to be very relaxing myself. Clara’s lullaby is a stark contrast to everything else that Demon School episode 19 gave us. Clara is calm, composed and soothing. Something that I never expected to say about the girl.
It’s moments like this that make me think that Clara will become the eventual love interest of Iruma. Either that or she’ll end up with Asmodeus as Iruma winds up with Ameri. Iruma still has his date with Ameri lined up so we don’t know what’ll happen next. They’re still a long way off from anything like that though, so everything is speculation at this point.
I enjoyed the whole idea of the Hubbub Forest. It’s like Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, only that you can find any type of food growing in the forest, not just candy. It would be great to be able to just walk outside your door and collect every type of food imaginable, prepped and ready to go. It’s a good thing too, because I don’t know how else Clara’s family would survive.
It was also good to hear a little bit of information about Clara’s father. He’s apparently an adventurer which is why he’s been missing this whole time. He sends back treasures from his travels so I’m assuming he hasn’t abandoned his wife and kids. I wonder if he’s as silly as the rest of them. Maybe we’ll find out someday.
What did Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun season 2 episode 19 get wrong?
The biggest negative of this anime episode is that it feels like a filler episode. It’s just taking up space in the season just to give us some time before getting back to the main story. Yes, it’s nice to take a little bit of a break, but I despise filler episodes. If it were up to me filler episodes would not exist.
The reason that I say Demon School episode 19 feels like a filler episode is because of the complete lack of connection to everything else in season 2. Yes, I get that this does connect to the previous episode. Clara did invite Iruma and Asmodeus over to get away from the media. I just don’t see anything that indicates where the story will be going from here. The events at Clara’s house are their own stand alone story.
Were you a fan of all the silliness then?
Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun season 2 episode 19 was a little too extreme in the silliness for me. I get that Clara’s family is just like her, but there’s a reason that there’s only one of Clara. Having a whole family of her in one episode is a bit too much. I know Iruma doesn’t mind being around all of it, but I would personally choose to limit my time. I think Asmodeus would do the same.
Some of you might enjoy the antics of Clara and her family. That’s fine. It’s just not for me. I can take it in small doses, like when Clara is climbing up Sabo or when she’s swinging from the tail of a magical beast. When it’s multiple characters non-stop, it’s too much. I’m glad episode 19 is now in the past and we can move on to something else.
Is Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun season 2 episode 19 worth watching?
It depends. There are some good things here but for some of you, Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun season 2 episode 19 won’t be entertaining. From a story’s perspective, you probably could bypass the anime episode entirely and not miss a beat. If you have a hard time watching Clara and her family you might want to consider that.
For those of you who like completing what you started, there are some entertaining things about this episode. Just set your expectations before sitting down to watch Demon School episode 19. Knowing that you’re about to get an episode full of Clara’s family helps soften the blow. It’s just one episode too, next week should be different.
Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun season 2 episode 20 preview
Iruma and Ameri get to go on their date. It looks like the netherworld has a water park and the two of them are headed there. I’m sure Ameri’s dad will not be all that thrilled at his daughter’s choice of attire, being the overly protective type. Ultimately Ameri goes with Iruma and there are a few signs that things won’t be perfectly smooth. We’ll just have to wait and see how the two enjoy their first date!
